Το μεγαλύτερο Χριστουγεννιάτικο γεγονός, με μερικά από τα σημαντικότερα ονόματα της εγχώριας rock σκηνής, επιστρέφει και φέτος, αυτή την φορά, για ένα εκρηκτικό ΤΕΤΡΑΗΜΕΡΟ, που θα αφήσει εποχή!
Έτσι η πρώτη ημέρα του φεστιβάλ, την Πέμπτη 21 Δεκεμβρίου, παρουσιάζει τους, emotional progressive rock, psychedelic doom metal, Smallman, από Σόφια, οι οποίοι έκαναν αισθητή την παρουσία τους το 2016, περιοδεύοντας με τους VIC, τους Purple Dino από Ξάνθη, στην πρώτη επίσημη παρουσίαση του δεύτερου δισκογραφικού album, τα Dark rock/Gothic metal βαμπίρ, The Black Capes σε μία από τις ελάχιστες εμφανίσεις τους και τους εκρηκτικούς Desert Rock - Rock n Roll Contra Limit!

SMALLMAN
After the sold-out gigs with Villagers of Ioannina City in 2016, the cult experimental metal band from Bulgaria - Smallman - will embark on a short trip to Greece this December - to play at X-MASS EXPLODE FEST.
Smallman play an unique blend of anguished post-rock, emotional progressive rock, psychedelic doom metal, atmospheric black metal, dark ambient and ethnic folk metal with a sound characterized by down-tuned guitars and unusual rhythms. At the dark heart of Smallman’s world sits the shamanic figure of their singer, Cvetan Hadzhiyski, who also plays traditional Bulgarian instruments, including the “kaval” (Balkan flute) and “gaida” (Bulgarian bagpipes).
Recent shows by Smallman have included a mesmerising show with the Norwegian neo-folk band, Wardruna, shows with the similarly unusual Subrosa in The Underworld, London, and the most recent – with Orange Goblin – this July in Sofia.
If it helps to make comparisons, Smallman could be said to be as hard to classify (or to resist) as fellow mavericks Tool, Neurosis, Swans, Velvet Underground, Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth, Chrome, Solstafir, Van der Graaf Generator, Loop, Cult of Luna or Magma.

The last release (2016) is an inspiring EP - a collaboration with Bulgaria’s best known DJ, Ivan Shopov, better known as Balkansky or Cooh, who melds his ethno-ambient electronica and analogue trance with Smallman’s own shamanic core. It is truly collaboration, which is greater than the sum of its parts.
It was recorded in October 2016 at the analogue heaven, which is London’s world-famous Kore Studios (whose previous clients have included The Who, Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, the BBC, Disney Studios, Scott Walker, Richard Ashcroft, Amy Winehouse, Florence + The Machine and many others).
As of April 2016 Ivan Shopov is an integral part of Smallman and analogue electronica is to be heard in all the shows.
Besides the great music of Smallman, you will be able to get a limited edition craft beer – Fenix – produced specially for the band.

Οι Purple Dino δημιουργήθηκαν στις αρχές του 2013. Αλλαγές σε ονόματα και line-up, τους φέρνουν στην σημερινή τους μορφή. Η ιστορία περιλαμβάνει live με το μεγαλύτερο κομμάτι της ελληνικής σκηνής, όπως Nightstalker, 1000mods, Universe217, Tuber, Lunarmare, Half Gramme of Soma κλπ. καθώς και συμμετοχές στο Fuzztastic Planet Festival 2013 & 2014.
Τον Μάιο του 2013 γράψανε μόνοι τους, με ό,τι γνώσεις και εξοπλισμό είχαν, ένα demo, το οποίο μπορεί o καθένας να κατεβάσει από το bandcamp (http://purpledinoband.bandcamp.com/).
Τον Ιούνιο του 2014 ξημέρωσε η μέρα που οι δεινόσαυροι βγάλανε το πρώτο full length album ονόματι “Jurassic Bar” και έκτοτε προσπαθούν να διαδώσουν το πρωτόγονο heavy rock τους σε όλα τα σημεία του ορίζοντα!

The Black Capes are a new goth-dark rock band in the vein of Type o Negative, 69 Eyes, Sisters of Mercy created in 2016.
The idea of a gothic rock band with new elements and a modern twist was born in the mind of Alex S Wamp (frontman for the sludge metal act “Potergeist”) after noticing the goth fans complaining that no new bands appear in the goth genre.
Having shared the stage with great artists of the rock and metal scene like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Monster Magnet, Pro Pain, The Haunted, The Shrine, Kylesa, Paradise Lost, Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity etc. and having released 4 albums with “Potergeist” it seemed like an intriguing challenge to start something new in another genre.
First to join was “Inactive Messiah” axeman Thanos Jan who is no stranger to the dark rock having toured Europe with his band many times along with “Vader”, “Rotting Christ”, “Septic Flesh” and many more and have worked with the likes of Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila “Finvox Studios”, JP Leppaluoto “Charon/ex-Poisonblack”, Emppu Vuorinen “Nightwish”, The Symphonic Orchestra of Bratislava, Prague Filmharmonic Orchestra on his bands albums.
Along came Guitar virtuoso Irene Ketikidi graduate of London ICMP that was selected to perform her original tune “Rambler” at Steve Vai s masterclass at London Olympia and was lead guitarist at Londons West End play “Julius Ceasar” directed by the award-winning Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia,The Iron lady)that later on moved to New York after a 4 month sell out season.
Irene has performed at some of the biggest UK venues and Europe’s festival stages with various artists from pop (Red N Pink, Cherry Lee Mewis), country (Colm Kirwan, 2X Emmy winner Victoria Shaw, Heidi Feek), hip hop (AKS, JTheex), melodic metal (Gravil) and is a featured artist in the biggest trade shows (Namm, Frankfurt Messe) alongside companies like Orange Amplifiers, Rotosound Strings, Klotz Cables, Xotic & AudioTubeWorks Effects, Gruv Gear Accessories and XVive Audio.
Human Base's performing featured artist Christ Rusty joined on the bass and Christos Grekas found his spot behind the drumset.
With the band full The Black Capes recorded their first Album “All these Monsters” co produced, mixed and mastered by Pete Rutcho (Parkway drive, Falling in R%everse, Deez Nuts, the Ghost inside, Revocation etc.) with the cover art done by Seth Siro Anton (Paradise Lost, Moonspell, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Dagoba etc.) that is set for a worldwide release June via “Dark Tunes music group”.

Οι Contra Limit σχηματίστηκαν στα τέλη του 2008 στην Σύρο, σήμερα όμως η έδρα τους βρίσκεται στην Αθήνα. Έχουν ταξιδέψει σε όλη την Ελλάδα παίζοντας σε μικρά και μεγάλα φεστιβάλ και μουσικές σκηνές, ενώ έχουν εμφανιστεί με κορυφαία συγκροτήματα του heavy rock ήχου (The Vintage Caravan (IC), The Shrine (USA), Glowsun (FR), Planet of Zeus, Nightstalker, Vodka Juniors, Potergeist, Beggar's Blues Diary κ.α.).
Η μουσική τους θα μπορούσε να χαρακτηριστεί ως ένα κράμα Desert Rock και Rock n Roll. To EP τους ‘Four Barrels From an Island’ κυκλοφόρησε τον Οκτώβρη του 2013, απέσπασε εξαιρετικές κριτικές και για την προώθηση του πραγματοποίησαν ένα tour σε πάνω από 15 πόλεις της Ελλάδας. Τον Νοέμβριο του 2014 μπήκαν στα ‘The New Fab Liquid Recording Studios’ για την ηχογράφηση του πρώτου τους full length album με τίτλο ‘Between Hay and Grass’. Το album κυκλοφόρησε τον Οκτώβριο του 2015.
Όσο μας αρέσει αυτό που κάνουμε, τόσο θα συνεχίζουμε να δίνουμε rock n roll!! Tο μέλλον επιφυλάσσει πολλά…
